Diagnostic Imaging

At Leek Vets we have the equipment for X-ray and Ultrasound procedures

X-ray
Our digital X-ray equipment is a great clinical tool for helping to diagnose animals. They are used to check bones, tissues and internal organs.
They can help us to diagnose conditions such as: broken bones, bladder stones, ingested foreign objects, tumours,  enlarged organs, certain heart and lung diseases and many more.
Most x-ray procedures require a short anaesthetic or sedation.
If required, X-rays that have been obtained, can be sent electronically to specialists to get their advice on your pets health.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound is used to, for example, check for pregnancy, evaluate heart conditions, assess organs for disease, diagnose tumours and much more.
For the vet to be able to  perform an ultrasound, your pet's fur will need to be shaved.
Sedation, and more rarely anaesthetics, are sometimes required.

Other procedures

Diagnostic imaging has advanced for veterinary medicine and at certain hospitals and clinics they now have CT and MRI machines. These can give a more in-depth look at your pet and give better diagnostic outcomes.
In a case where we believe this could be beneficial for your pet, we will offer to refer you to one of these places.

If you think your pet needs any of these services please contact us and book a consultation with one of our Vets.
